Jason Louv

Hi. I’m a writer.

I do editing, digital publishing, graphic design, blog curation, social media, SEO, creative directing, video, radio and brand strategy, too, but basically, I’m a writer—and I have a lot of tools to get my point across.

Personal Details of the Flesh-Suit: Born and raised in San Diego, California; educated at UC Santa Cruz and King’s College, London. Spent long apprentice period under Genesis Breyer P-Orridge. Dropped out in India and Nepal, ended up studying shamanism in the foothills of the Himalayas. Came up as a counterculture publishing grunt in New York, published a book, became famous for fifteen minutes, published another book, got into Green advertising helping corporations go sustainable; had one of my ads (for Scotland Week) up on a billboard in Times Square. Went back to the Himalayas. Moved to Hollywood. Published another book. Ended up working for the United States space program as a designer and helped Buzz Aldrin open a clear path for the human race to get to Mars.

I’ve edited and published three anthologies on consciousness studies: Generation Hex, Ultraculture and Thee Psychick Bible. Publisher’s Weekly once called me a “publishing guru,” comic book writer Grant Morrison called me a “real life Harry Potter,” the author Howard Bloom called me “A director and producer of text… a bloody f***ing genius” and artist Brendan McCarthy called me “...a top tier talent who can really tell a story. A unique fusion of Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman.”

Writing: Now I’m focusing on what I’ve always wanted to do: write cool-ass stories. My first novel, Queen Valentine, is out to excellent reviews. Now I’m working on the next one, while publishing articles to wide acclaim (my most recent article for Esquire, “Dead Sites,” garnered over 200,000 hits).

You can check out my writing at my blog, and contact me via comments or by the Facebook and Twitter icons in the top right of this site.

Jeffrey Lin
Senior Designer
Green Team

Jason’s an amazing individual with a unique perspective on everything, and luckily on advertising as well as life in general. We worked on numerous agency projects, both for clients and for the agency, and it was always a pleasure. We worked directly on Green Team’s own promotional materials, and there was a lot of research and collaboration involved. The client work was also done in an efficient, succinct manner; it was easy to Jason to provide very “client”-type writing but then do something very interesting when it came to our own projects or with clients who could handle a wider range of thought. Jason had a thorough understanding of clients’ needs and desires, but also the creative team’s desire to push the envelope. Easily recommended as a unique thinker and individual, an asset to any type of organization.

Alan Stuart
Creative Director
One Long House

Jason is one of the smartest guys I’ve ever met, and he has a crazy ability to know about everything. Despite that, he is always eager to learn and take criticism to improve in whatever he’s doing. A pleasure to work with.

Hank Stewart
Vice President
Green Team

Jason is a thorough researcher and thoughtful writer. He immerses himself in a project and sweats the details.

Amy Pertschuk
Children and Nature Network

We asked Jason to advise us as we develop our Web 2.0/social media strategy. Jason offers an inside perspective, both as a user and as a professional. A strategic thinker, he helped us understand the best uses for our limited resources—those actions that will bring the most benefit to our work.

Brian Morales
Designer

Jason is a dedicated, hard-working soul determined to change the world through communications. He is focused, with a wealth of informational resources—he provides any group with validity, candor and motivation.

Hernando Rozo

Hatala Systems Group

Jason’s work ethic, creativity and media knowledge make him an incredible asset to any team.
